So it looks like this is the original contest description, is there a future copy of the magazine where they printed the winner(s)?

The contest indicates that if you want to know the winners, you needed to send a SAE (self addressed envelope) with your entry. Perhaps they are also posted in a later publication, but I suspect not.

I remember this but why don’t we try to play the challenge?

Well at first, the wizard should cast the pass through rock on him and the veil of mist on the elf and then he will leave the room and stay in the room with the stairs, ready to leave the dungeon.

The Elf will cast the swift wind on him just to be sure that he has enough movement, and then he will go E, E, N, E, E, E, E, just to block the chaos warrior and don’t let him stay between the heroes and the exit.

Then the barbarian will drink the heroic brew and try to kill the fimir next to him and if he is successful will try to kill the goblin too. Then he will stay there just to keep the path open for the dwarf.

If all goes well, and the fimir is dead, the dwarf could leave the room and head for the stairs, if not he should move N attack the fimir and then all should try to stay alive for one more round.

See the instructions, movement rolls are known in advance. The answer involves getting everyone to the stairs (completely out of the dungeon) in one turn. You are on the right track.

The problem are the chaos warriors. We don't get out in one turn, but after the first turn there will be three chaos warriors approaching. I am torn between healing the elf or shoot a monster.

I am having a small issue. The turns of the players are Wizard 1st, Elf 2nd, Barbarian 3rd and Dwarf 4th. However, I am not sure if the numbered squares on the map are meant to show player's turn or player's body points which are listed below the map. Obviously the Barbarian is 3 and the Dwarf is 4 but I really don't know if Elf is on 1 or 2.
Whatever the case may be, here's how to escape pretty smoothly:

Wizard = Using the wand of recall, he cast Veil of Mist on the Elf and Pass through Rock on himself. He might be on square 1 or 2, doesn't make a difference. Moving E he passes through walls twice and gets down the stairs. He has more than enough movement to do so.
Elf = Casts Swift Wind on himself so he can now move 10 squares. Since he has Veil of Mist and Swift Wind, he can now exit the main room, skipping the Fimir, head down the corridor on the east skipping the goblin and get to the staircase. He might be on square 1 or 2 when he starts, doesn't matter.
Barbarian = Drinks the Heroic brew and gets down to business. Hack away the fimir, then hack away the goblin, then move six squares to reach the staircase. Since we already now he will be successful on his attacks, the monsters will be out of the way.
Dwarf = A walk in the park for the shortie. With 9 squares, he has just enough movement to join his comrades in the staircase.

Facepalm. Yes, all the movement spells.

I discounted them out of habit, stupid me. That's the solution.

I'm prety sure the numbers are turn order.

The Wizard uses the Wand of Recall to cast Veil of Mist on himself and Pass through Rock on the Elf, then he prances like a fairy out of the dungeon using all 10 spaces of movement. "Bah-bye!"

The Elf casts Genie and slays the Chaos Warrior (or opens a random door) then dead-pans "I was seriously tempted to cast Tempest on the Dwarf", winks and walks through the wall to the staircase using 2/5 of movement.

The Barbarian chugs the heroic brew and eviscerates the Fimir then turns around to find the goblin has fled. He grunts and staggers drunkenly to the staircase (the goblin was in fact inadvertently impaled on the initial back swing and its corpse is hanging from the drop flap buttons in his loin cloth).

The Dwarf grumbles about not being able to search for treasure. Looks at Orcs bane, looks at three orcs, looks at Orcs bane, looks at three Orcs, then realizes he`s been left behind and runs like hell to the stairwell.

FYI:
The rules indicate you can keep items across quests, so it would be better to save the brew and use Genie on the fimir.

The assumed doubling of the movement roll for swift wind is a nice thought. If you allow this, the wizard can be a total badass and burn the Fimir with Ball of Flame and cook the goblin (we also allow fire of wrath to be non-line of sight). "Fly you fools!!!"

But the contest rules say ALL spells are for LoS or same room monsters. :(
