Thanks for the helpful image. I went back through the font and tidied up the sizing (and a little bit of kerning). I've updated the font to v1.1 in my dropbox; the link is the same as before.

Just updated and loaded a file already set-up with said font. Looks much better, although I am exhausted and concussed, so may not be in the best state to judge :D

Had an idea for alternative "melee", "diagonal" and "extended" glyphs:

You could use them instead of or alongside the sword-with-tick-marks versions.

That's a good one! This is applicable also to non-fighting effects.

Awesome! Maybe these could also be used/modified for spells that have an area effect?

Perhaps? Here's what I got.

As you can see, Melee, Diagonal, Extended, and Ranged all have board-square equivalents now (for Ranged, the option to allow adjacent attacks or not is available). The last two, which have hash patterns instead of X's covering the squares, can be used for area-of-effect stuff. All seven new icons have been added to HQModern, at the back of the font so as not to change the order of the icons already present, and the links have been updated. Remember, you can find this thread and HQModern itself easily from my sig.

...If I made a PDF quick-read guide to each of the symbols, you think drathe would host the font on the Inn?

Ohhh, you let range attack adjacent diagonals?

I never have. You know that needs an eighth variant now, right?
:P

Only for one or two weapons. Since it's a special occasion, I don't keyword it. However, I do allow adjacent-ranged attacks from magical sources.

But the icon you used does allow that?
