I've toyed with modern/sci-fi stuff occasionally...trying to use HQ-style rules as much as possible...with a little mix
of D&D in there somewhere. I created regular guns and specialty-damage blasters (fire, cold, electricity, etc.).
I also created a special character, the Tech Caster, who used special technology to recreate the effects of magic
spells.

Maybe if I had someone or a group to play with, it might have been fun. I got bored with it pretty quick.

Just so you know...Billiam Babble (Inked Adventures) has started creating space and sci-fi tiles. He has
space ships out right now. :) Check them out.

To be quite frank, it sounds like you did it wrong...

Do not mix HQ and Sci-fi.
Try out Space Crusade as it is. It is based around long range shooting and covers.
The explore part is your scanner registering blips.
Space Crusade IS NOT HeroQuest in space!!!

It's all sci-fi. The rules are built up around a futuristic concept. And it works. It makes sense.

Except for the part that Tyranids and Space Orks are on the same side
Still it's a fantastic game!

"Saturday Night DUNGEON!
Share your game nights with everyone by posting images and captions, or just tell us about the exciting events that happened in your games here. Even if it's not from Saturday night, we'd like to see them!"

Go ahead and post your Space Crusade games at, Board index ‹ Gaming Rooms ‹ Saturday Night DUNGEON!, as it needn't be just Hero Quest.

alyndavies wrote:As for the game itself, I have always enjoyed it, basically it changes some of the faults of heroquest and solves them. I know the game designer of heroquest and space crusade said on youtube that he prefers the space crusade game of the two....

I'd love to see that Youtube interview, as I've posted a Google-translated Stephen Baker interview before and am interested to share his exact words with the community. Link?
