Complete Rework of the Elf Quest Series

Not long after completing my rework of the Barbarian Quest series I, decided to make a similar effort also for the Elf Quest. That expansion suffers from similar flaws as the Barbarian Quest, but not quite in the same way. I will make more specific announcements here soon and everything, i.e., the Tactical Elf Quest, will then be accessible via this link, which already contains my collection of Tactical Hero Quest (THQ) material:

For various reasons, I will do some things out of order this time, so don’t expect everything to be here by tomorrow, although the whole piece is already complete. For now, I especially have a request for a little help directed at respected members of this forum who are native speakers of English, preferably (but not necessarily) British English. Would 1 or 2 of you be willing to read and comment half a page of a small, fun dialogue between the elf and one of his old friends, which I set up to happen after the solo quests? It’s just about appropriate wording and expressions in casual English, which I am not so familiar with, obviously. If you do, please drop me a note and/or a personal message, and I will send you a file. It will be a fun and easy read for you, I suppose, and you don’t have to be familiar with any of my THQ stuff, but knowing the Elf Quest and Barbarian Quest packs well would be good. Thanks!

It speaks volumes that the matters of the elves are of little interest to humans. Regardless, I had expected this, and things will now go ahead anyway. The purpose of my efforts was to overhaul EQ to strengthen its thematic elements (chaos magic, werewolves, …), its storyline and improve the playability (correcting errors, reducing the difficulty a bit, and streamlining of some quests), similar as in TBQ.

EQ came already with a few decent adventures mid-way in the series, but a particular weakness were the solo quests. I found them dull, uninspiring, and partially weird, much in contrast to what BQ had given us in its own overture. Thus, I decided to treat the EQ quests 1-3 ungently with a battle axe and built something different from the fragments, which the elf will be able to remember for his entire life afterwards. These new quests also contain some encouragement to select some of the less frequently used elf spells (though in THQ all spells are balanced quite well).

Behind the link above you can now find what I call the tactical elf quest (TEQ) version 0.3, which contains these reworked solo quests from EQ, including some fun stuff. I am mostly confident that you should be able to play them with the standard HQ rules, too, as the differences between my THQ and the normal ruleset are more pronounced in group combat, but less so in solo play (except for a few situations). All 3 quests were playtested. Technically, my player almost resigned in quest 3, but eventually he made it, after being given a very little hint. Be aware all this is not for beginners, who should stay their distance from the elven realm anyway!
