Quest Questions

I've decided to start a topic for quest related questions.

Quest 4: the elven prospector.

the door marked "A" has a trap on it. If you try to open it without disabling the trap, the Ogres in the cell are freed and attack you.
But how can you search for traps if there are monsters in the room??? Is the jail considered a seperate room? Or are they always supposed to attack you?

Page 6.
Portcullis: Heroes cannot "see" through a portcullis until it is opened.

I believe this means for the purpose of performing actions, the contents behind a closed portcullis do not affect a hero.

I think the prison should be treated like a different room... door and walls in between.
Even if the Ogres see through the portcullis they cannot distract you from searching for traps.
The basic rule that you can't search for traps in the presence of monsters is just logical: the monsters will try to attack you or otherwise make it impossible to search for anything simply because they are a threat.
But the ogres in the prison behind a closed portcullis aren't and cannot disturb you.
My :2cents:

eh - just let the group include my version of a halfling hero - they can search even with monsters in the room.

That is a special skill I incorporated in my game.
For thief-like characters and such...

Which Quest do the Heroes get the Elven Bracers?

Actually, officially, they never do (spoilers!).

Phoenix modified the first EQP solo quest to give them as a reward for completing it instead of the Elven Chainmail (there's no card, but it's what the developers intended for that quest's reward).

So I'd say give it to the Heroes whenever you feel is best. Like the Armband of Ice in BQP (never officially given to the heroes in the campaign), you could always put it into one of those "empty" treasure chests as a special treasure in any quest you want or give it as a reward at some point.
