WoM box design / cardboard thickness?

Postby Zenithfleet » February 11th, 2013, 7:31 am

G'day all.

Long story short - I caved in and bought a Wizards of Morcar set from eBay. (I REGRET NOTHING! )

Everything seems in order and just as described, so I'm quite chuffed. Although broke.

However I did find it odd that the box was made of thin cardboard (about the same as a cereal packet) and had flaps to open at either end.

All my other HQ expansion sets have strong, thick cardboard boxes with slip-on lids, like most board games.

Did MB go for a cheaper alternative by the time Wizards came out, or is there something fishy going on here?

Fret not.
All German expansions were packaged as you described.
It was stable enough as long as the minis were on sprue, the tiles and markers in frame, and the cards in foil...

As soon as you made these things ready to play you kept them in the base game box, which is the reason everyone threw away the expansion boxes.
Now we pay 70 Euros for a boxless WoM copy, and 110 Euros for a boxed set. Ridiculous, really, but we all know completists...

I have no expansion boxes myself, sold a Kellar's Keep box for 15 Euros, believe it or not.
