The only difference I'm seeing from the pictures is a slight lean to the right and I'm willing to bet it was done one the same side of the mold.

Not all the molds are identical. It may come from a different set or deformed during the estrusion process from the mold.
There are a lot more of this differences, changing from one set to the other, even if they re from the same country:
look at the Elf head positions:

It’s entirely possible that the figures themselves have warped over time from being in an attic or some other warm location

I guess when the machine extruded the miniatures from the mold the plastic was still not completely cold and solid and so they deformed a little bit.
It is also sure that there was different moulds for the same set of figures (for sure more than 3 for each kind of sprue)
