He died in one hit in the game system with heroic brew and potion of strength. Did the UK version not have these two potions??

In the UK version potions were 'Normal Treasure' and were returned to the treasure deck at the end of each Quest, unlike the NA version which allowed you to keep your potions.

So at the start of every quest the heroes would have to start 'searching for treasures' again and hope that the Heroic Brew or Potion of Strength came back up again before they needed it.

real question is: why isn't he killed by Holy water. the one item in the game whose sole purpose is to kill undead? :D

(and yes i know. it's daft. but he could at least be a bit worried by it.)

The Witch Lord isn't undead! That's why holy water doesn't do anything to him. He's basically some form of chaosmancer or necromancer

Isn't he all skeletal in the pictures though? By definition, skeletal = undead.

Actually, by definition, Skeletal = skeleton like.

I know that there's an argument that the Witch Lord is actually a Lich, as this relates to the Warhammer universe.
However the world of Hero Quest is not exactly the same as Warhammer. Liches have yet to be established in Hero Quest and therefore the Witch Lord's undead status remains ambiguous at best.
Only Skeletons, Zombies and Mummies qualify as Undead based on the Spirit Blade Artifact Card, it actually specifies in parenthesis what is undead. Also undead tend to not have mind points.

The front cover of Return of the Witch Lord does indeed portray the Witch Lord as skeletal, but Borin's Armor is pictified with a Helmet.
He could just be a powerful Necromancer that has conquered death and is so old that he looks skeletal.
Sure, he's found in a tomb in Barrak Tor, but it's stated that he was merely imprisoned, not dead. It's not unlikely to find a Necromancer in a Tomb. In fact Wizards of Morcar Quest 2 is a Crypt, yet the Necromancer lives.

The Wizard has become stronger and now his Fire spells can harm the Witch Lord too.
The Witch Lord is a Lich:
Such a creature is the result of a wilful transformation, as a powerful wizard skilled in necromancy who seeks eternal life uses rare substances in a magical ritual to become undead. Unlike zombies, which are often depicted as mindless, a lich is sapient, retaining their previous intelligence and magical abilities. Liches are often depicted as holding power over lesser undead soldiers and servants.
His magic probably protect him from the Holy Water.

Holy Water may not harm him, but I'd say he's vulnerable to Holy Flame. ;)
