Why write such a rule if the whole point is just that the statues are indestructible?
The classic question, is "Is the gargoyle a statue or alive"... Sigh... Guess you'll have to attack it to find out...

That's a solid point right there. Welcome to my cause.

I agree about keeping certain information secret from the heroes, but the NA rules do state the following:

"Spread out the 8 Monster Cards and put them face up near the gameboard so that the Hero players can easily refer to them. All the information on these cards can also be found in the Monster Chart on the Information Screen."

I think it's correct to say that all of the information in the Quest Notes should initially remain secret from the heroes unless otherwise specified.

Maybe Zargon should keep the cards face down until heroes manage to kill the 1st monster of each card. Then they may open the monster's card permanently.

I actually like this idea. It has a good feeling of reward for discovery/overcoming obstacles.
War is not the answer...unless the question is, 'What is not the answer?'

great idea
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
