Forum Rules

1. Forum Rules

a. Relevant Forums
Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Members are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Members consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning (see policing below).
Top

b. Member Respect
Members should post in a way that is respectful of other members. Flaming, or abusing members in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.
Top

c. Appropriate Content
Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic, or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.
Top

d. SPAM
Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance. Members posting spam will be warned and their post removed.
Top

e. Moderation
The Wizards of Zargon, Innkeepers and other Staff reserve the right to edit, remove, or put on moderation queue, any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Inn Staff and not members.
Top

f. Private Messaging (PMs)
The above forum rules, where applicable, also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging privileges.

2. Attachments

a. Champions
Congratulations on becoming a Champion of the Realm!! As gratitude for your service and dedication, we are awarding you with a gift of File Attachments!! With this gift, you will be able to more easily share your work with others by attaching files to your posts and your private messages. However, with great power, comes great responsibility. We offer this service gratis for continued participation in keeping the spirit of this great game alive. Because there are many other Champions, we do ask you to keep a few things in mind:

b. Post Attachments
Please understand that this is not a permanent hosting service. These are meant to be short-term solutions to sharing files, so please don't abuse this privilege. We ask that you keep the size to a minimum. We (the Innkeepers) will be regularly monitoring these files. If we see a trend that tells us that many people are downloading the files, we will keep them up longer, however, we will limit most files to one (1) month. If a greater length of time is required, we will gladly accept an email with an explanation as to why that may be.

c. PM Attachments - Sending
We realize that these attachments are only meant for 1 or 2 people at most. We ask that once you send a PM with an attachment, that you delete it (the PM) once you're sure the intended party has received it (ie. the PM is in your Sent Messages folder).
Top

d. PM Attachments - Receiving
When receiving a PM with an attachment, we ask that you delete it (the PM) once you've downloaded it and verified its contents (ensuring a proper d/l of the file).
Top

e. Duplicate Attachements
Duplicate attachments take up twice as much space and are redundant. Do not upload multiples of the same attachment, even if it is relevant to another thread. The appropriate method is to insert a link directing members to the primary post containing the attachment.
Top

f. Text-Only Attachments
Text-Only documents should not be uploaded and attached to posts. Text should be included in the post itself. Members can easily make this text area stand apart from the rest of their posts by using the Quote, or Code functions.
Top

g. Updated Attachments
Do not post updated attachments if the previous attachment still exists. Instead, update the primary attachment through the Edit function and then create a new post to let other members know the primary attachment has been updated.
Top

h. Innkeeper Rights
Please note that the Innkeepers of this Inn reserve the right to delete any uploaded content at any time without warning, or reason.
Top

i. Attaching Images
Storage space is limited. We would like to save as much space as possible for download-able content on the Homepage. As such, it is preferred that images be hosted on an images hosting service and linked-to in posts via the [URL] or [IMG] tags.

If an image file (png, jpg, gif, etc) is attached to a post for viewing purposes, (e.g. pictures of painted miniatures), and not for downloading, (e.g. tiles and game cards) all images for viewing must be at screen resolution. (re-sized to 72pdi) Screen resolution saves on storage space and the images will load faster.

3. Policing

a. Three (3) Strikes
Ye Olde Inn operates a three-strike policy. Members will be warned a maximum of three (3) times for any and all offences in a six (6) month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning, a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 60 days and special rights (ie. Champion status) may be revoked for a period of time agreed upon by the Innkeepers.
Top

b. Arguing with Inn Staff
Arguing with Inn staff after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three (3) strikes, a temporary ban will be put in place as above.
Top

c. Unfair Treatment
Members who feel they have been unfairly warned, are welcome to contact the relevant team leader, e.g. if warned by a Wizard of Zargon, you should contact the Wizards of Zargon team leader(s). If they feel you were treated badly, they will remove a warning.
Top

d. Circumventing Bans
Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban, or other moderator action will lead to a permanent ban of your account(s). Circumvention includes re-registering, or using an already registered account under a non-banned Username. Other examples include changing IP addresses, using a new email account, or other actions that can be taken to evade moderator action to hide your identity as the owner of the sanctioned account.
Top

e. Three-Strike Exception
An exception to the three-strike rule applies when members contact Inn Staff personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent, or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.
Top

f. Permanent Bans
Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While Innkeepers may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time, this is a rare occurrence.
